If You Want To Be A Friend of Jesus

Do you want to be a friend and follower of Jesus? If you do, you can speak to Him right now by praying the prayer below: 

Dear Jesus,

I want to be your friend and follower. I know that I have made wrong choices and have done sinful things. I'm sorry; I do not want to live in the lifestyle of sin anymore. Will you please forgive me and help me to change my ways. Lord Jesus, I believe that You are God's begotten son and that You came in the flesh on our earth to die and take the punishment of sin for all mankind. I also believe that God raised You back to life from the dead, hell and the grave and I'm so thankful that You chose to make such a sacrifice for me. I know that I do not have what it takes to cleanse myself from sin nor do I have what it takes to free me from the yoke and bondage of darkness. But I believe that You Jesus have what it takes to set me free and I will trust in You from this day onwards to lead me, guide me and walk with me on the path of righteousness for Your name sake. So I put my confidence, faith, hope and love on You Jesus and I ask You to come into my heart today. Thank You Lord for rescuing me and making me Yours in Jesus' name. Amen!

After you have finished praying, it will be good if you can at least identify one or more persons with whom you can share the love, faith and hope of Jesus Christ. It may be a family member or a co-worker and if you're a student it may be your classmates. Jesus has more than enough love to give to everyone. His word declares that He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance in 2 Peter 3:9 ~ "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." And if God is not willing for anyone to perish, because He cares so much for mankind despite all the negative words that men speak against Him, then we need to understand that His love surpasses our human understanding. Even when He has done nothing wrong and neither did He anything to hurt mankind, some people still chose to be angry and talk bad about Him. Obviously we ought to see the lost (backslidden and the unchurched) through the eyes of Christ with love and compassion. "Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering;" ~ Colossians 3:12. But instead we become so heavily focused on how sinful and dark the world has become instead of seeing how much light we need to shine in order for the lost to find their way back to the safety of the arms of Jehovah Nissi. "He shall feed His flock like a shepherd: He shall gather the lambs with His arm and carry them in His bosom and shall gently lead those that are with young." ~ Isaiah 40:11. We have to remember that we are the designated lights that God is expecting to shine. "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid." ~ Matthew 5:14. For He was once bearing that responsibility when He was living as the Son of Man upon the earth. "Then spake Jesus again unto them saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life." ~ John 8:12. And He has given us the same opportunity to be the light of the world. What an amazing responsibility that God has given to us His body. But knowing that we have been given that task as believers and ministers of His Holy mandate, it is not enough to push ourselves only to accomplish them. We have to also act upon faith, hope and the love of Christ in our hearts to do that which is necessary for the Kingdom of Heaven.

FOLLOWING JESUS:

Remember, God has given you His Holy Spirit to help you and comfort you. The Holy Spirit loves action and wants to participate in your life, but what does He do? The following is a list of some actions that the Holy Spirit performs, to and with those who seek Him: 

1. Helps us to abound in hope:- "Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost." ~ Romans 15:13
2. Helps us to become followers of Jesus and followers of the followers of Jesus:- "And ye became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost." ~ 1 Thessalonians 1:6
3. Teach you all things:- "But the Comforter which is the Holy Ghost whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I have said to you." ~ John 14:26  
4. Reminds us of the things Jesus said and did:- "But the helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. " ~ John 14:26

 Zechariah 4:6

I pray that you will accept the Holy Spirit's guidance so that you can have a better and more successful chance of winning on your Jesus journey. We cannot live this life of Christ solely from our own abilities and strength. So he said to me, This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: "Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit," says the LORD ALMIGHTY. ~ Zechariah 4:6. We cannot be saved by our own efforts, good behaviour or status. "For it is by grace you have been saved through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God" ~ Ephesians 2:8.  You can learn more about Jesus by reading the Bible. The Bible is made up of many different books that the Holy Spirit inspired many different people to write. God teaches us about Himself and about following Him through the Bible. "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. 2: He was with God in the beginning. 3: Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. 4: In Him was life and that life was the light of all mankind. 5: The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it." ~ John 1:1-5. He is the Omniscient (knowing everything), Omnipresent (widely or constantly encountered; widespread) and Omnipotent (having great power and influence and having unlimited power) God of Wonders beyond our galaxy. He is HOLY! He is RIGHTEOUS! May you accept His love for you and chose to live with Him in paradise. Jehovah God is the greatest!
